How to Teach Your Child to Ride a Balance Bike
Keep the first sessions short
Aim for 10-15 minutes. Stop while your child still feels successful.
Progression to use
Step 1: Walk and push
- child sits and walks with both feet
- no pressure to glide yet
Step 2: Mini glides
- gentle slope or smooth pavement
- short lift-and-glide moments
Step 3: Steering and stopping
- wide turns first
- practice controlled stopping on command

- holding the bike too long from behind
- forcing long sessions
- moving to hills before braking confidence
