Aim for 10-15 minutes. Stop while your child still feels successful.

Progression to use

Step 1: Walk and push

  • child sits and walks with both feet
  • no pressure to glide yet

Step 2: Mini glides

  • gentle slope or smooth pavement
  • short lift-and-glide moments

Step 3: Steering and stopping

  • wide turns first
  • practice controlled stopping on command

Common coaching mistakes

  • holding the bike too long from behind
  • forcing long sessions
  • moving to hills before braking confidence
